Refurbishment and extension to substantial Victorian villa in central Cambridge. Building work included the replacement of all services with a new centralised computer system to control lighting, heating, security, blinds, etc. The external thermal envelope was upgraded to achieve a thermal performance better than current Building Regulation requirements. The original windows were upgraded and draught-stripped and installed with new krypton filled double glazed units with drawn glass to match the original Victorian glazing. Purpose made joinery was designed for the kitchen, bathrooms and en-suites, library, TV room. Other features included solar thermal heating and rainwater harvesting.
